Welcoming Winter in with Friends
We have a new year awaiting us. Consciously or not, most people evaluate the past and the future more than usual during this time. Mental inventories are taken and fresh ideas emerge. Mid-January to early February is a perfect time to put together an informal social gathering. By then, the holiday decorations are back in their boxes and gifts have been exchanged, returned, or simply nestled into their new home.
More often than not, people were unavailable to share the holiday time due to other commitments.
Let’s have them over! Enjoy a light meal and share great new plans for the future.
It’s funny; I’ve had a few parties like this, and the results are always surprising. Oh, sure the usual lose-weight and stop-smoking vows dominate, but inevitably there are astonishing revelations.
Most of us have more time during the first two months of the New Year and, therefore, have some time to put into the preparation of the food. One of the satisfying parts of a creating a meal plan to share with others is getting to try something new. That is why I have chosen the Gravlox and the sardines as part of the menu. Most of the items can be made days ahead of time to relieve the last-minute rush. You should be relaxed so you can enjoy the meal, too. This is a suggested menu; add and subtract with abandon.
